Andy Mattock (Web Designer!…)

From an early age I had the intention that I would work in the creative industries. I studied BA Hons in Graphic design and followed this with my first design employment for a small agency in Cardiff.

I then moved to London and continued in a number of varied Graphic Design positions gaining experience in both large and small agencies.

I then decided to become Freelance, working with agencies and being placed in a variety of roles in both agencies and businesses. This helped me develop my independence and skill-set and after a year of freelancing I decided to set up my own Graphic design business: origin8 creative.

While I still work as a Graphic Designer by main are of work is web designer so I’m now torn between describing myself as a Web Designer or Graphic Designer.

We moved to Hove in 2004, working from home, before venturing out into shared office spaces. The first of which was Brighton Desk Space. At the time that was about the only option whereas now there’s a great choice of permanent and daily choices. 

It has been a great way to meet people and has also brought me into contact with other freelancers and businesses which has both been insightful and brought about a number of web design opportunities!

I’ve obviously marketed my business to work withing Brighton, Hove and the surrounding area. The majority of my clients are local but I’ve also worked with people from across the country as well as the States, Sweden and Singapore!
